An observer’s guide
March 24, 2014
How to survive election facilitation? With election day starting at 2:30 am and ending almost 24 hours later, what are an observer’s coping methods?
1. Go to bed at 8 pm on E-day -1.
2. Coffee before.
3. Coffee during.
4. Coffee after!
5. Sms colleagues in other polling stations.
6. Listen to your radio handset.
7. Encourage courtesy visits by higher-ups.
8. Answer questions like: “Can I vote for my brother? He’s not here today.”
9. Discuss levels of tiredness.
10. Snack discreetly.
11. Check the clock.
12. People-watch.
13. Take great joy in filling out forms!
