Duplex 100m2, Sarajevo

November 1, 2013

I finally got around to visiting the new location of Duplex Gallery 100m2, for the exhibit Retrovision of Baptiste Debombourg. A gold-plated plastic bag challenges our concept of value and permanence; the video installation, a close-up of the bag on a black background, gives the impression of some limitless galaxy, micro to macro. Snowflake-like prints reveal the fatal architecture of a bomb mechanism’s beautiful internal design.

The idea of a gold-plated plastic bag is so interesting… were there other objects that explored this idea of value and permanence? It’s such an interesting concept.

The snowflake design that represents beauty and destruction is another challenging idea to wrap your head around. This exhibit definitely makes you think!
