Contested spaces

August 5, 2013

Life is funny. In a January post, I wrote that I would love to write something for Colab Radio, an urban planning blog. Six months later, I wrote two posts for their contested spaces series, both stories from Srebrenica. The funny part to me is that these are places that I wrote about on this blog before– the castle and the mineral spring— but it never occurred to me to try to write about their political/historical context. It was an interesting exercise to try to explain the situation to an outside audience.

Katie, that is so cool! I remember your posts from earlier in the year too. It’s so awesome to read your guest blog posts on contested spaces. I think you choose very interesting topics (expanding my view of what contested spaces are), and give such clear explanations. It’s neat to circle back to your prior blog posts from a historical perspective. Really nice!
