Kiosk days

April 3, 2013

I started this blog writing about my friend M’s job in a tobacco stand. After not being paid for four months, she quit. The last time I visited M in the kiosk for a coffee and a chat, she was bored because there was hardly any inventory left to sell, so she started sketching to pass the time. Walking by recently, I noticed that the kiosks have all been closed. I heard that the owners moved to Serbia.

That’s a sad story… I like how you could just look at the pictures and get the whole story without words.

I really like the photo-story, you should do more like this! Maybe one without any writing at all…

not paid for four months! is that common over there?

very very common… unfortunately. it’s common to be paid less than agreed, not to be paid, etc. one of the first questions a person asks, when trying to find out about a job is “do they really pay each month?”

Wow, how hard for your friend! I hope she finds a job soon that will truly support her!

yeah i am praying for her.. but like you wrote about today sometimes trials can be a blessing, it’s a real exercise of our faith… m is an inspiration to me in that!
