Laundry day
March 8, 2013
I remember being so indignant when watching Al Gore’s movie, An Inconvenient Truth, with my students in China, and his tip: “Dry clothes on a line when possible,” since my students washed their clothes by hand and will probably never own a dryer. Actually, their responses to the movie were pretty hilarious. After moving to Bosnia, it was a big adjustment for me to factor in an extra day for drying; I was used to washing and drying my clothes in an evening. When I lived in humid, rainy Mostar, drying could take daaaaaays… This summer, there were water cuts in Srebrenica. I never admired clean clothes on a clothesline more. (First photo is from the summer.. the others I took recently.)

I enjoyed reading your blog post from PIA! It’s so true. I love this set of photos… especially the first shot. It’s beautiful in it’s simplicity, such a great use of colors and shapes. In fact, all the photos have such nice compositions. I’ll be thinking of you when I’m doing laundry this weekend!
hehe 😉
