The Kiosk Diaries
My friend M works in a tobacco stand; this is the view from where she sits each day. M and I are going to collaborate on a photo project for this blog; I provide the camera, she provides ideas. Together we’re going to take a fresh look at our small town lives.
“I have a degree in early childhood education, and my dream is to be a preschool teacher. I work eight hours a day, with no days off. I’m supporting my parents. The best part of my job is that I’ve met a lot of people that I would never have met otherwise. I love Enrique Iglesias. I want to learn English. I want to learn to drive. I want to buy a sewing machine and start my own business adapting clothes with my own cool custom-designs.”
This is the view from my office window.
“I have a degree in comparative literature. I work for an intergovernmental organization and my dream is to be a documentary filmmaker. I work nine hours a day. I write reports. The best part of my job is that I’ve met a lot of people that I would never have met otherwise. I miss my family. I want to learn how to play guitar. I want to take aerobics. I want to start a blog.”
Hi!
I’m so excited that this blog has started 🙂 Glad to be introduced to M…
Is there a shortage of open positions for preschool teachers there?
unfortunately there is a shortage for most jobs… I talked to a city official the other day, and he was complaining that the young people aren’t getting married early enough and that many social problems are caused by that. he told a young teacher, “you need to get married and have kids, or what do you expect? you have to make work for yourself!” hahahah! 🙂
Katie, this is great. I love the blog. Keep doing what you are doing!
thank you so much!!!
